Yesterday, I was in Brentwood with my mom and sister, so we thought we might try Suzanne Goin’s Tavern. I was pretty excited to try Tavern since I really like Lucques in West Hollywood.
The first thing I noticed when I entered the restaurant was the interior design. It was chic but comfortable. It reminded me of some of the nicer gastropubs I’ve visited in London. I wasn’t too hungry, so I just ordered the seafood salad. It came with shrimp, crab and avocado—all my favorites. I also liked the Green Goddess dressing that it came with. It tasted strongly of tarragon. Luckily, I really like tarragon.
We didn’t have time to get dessert, so I stopped by the larder on the way out and bought some cookies. I ordered some macarons, a walnut shortbread, a pistachio sable, and a chocolate chip cookie. My favorite was the chocolate chip cookie. You have a choice of either crispy and chewy chocolate chip cookies. I chose the chewy cookie. It was a nice chewy texture, and I could definitely taste the butter. I also liked the rose macaron, but the outside shell of the cookie was a little thick for me.
